Death of the West (Berkeley)

Death of the West is a new gothic western based project comprised of Mr. Hate (Noothgrush, High Toned S.O.B.) and Ure Thrall (Asianova).

The idea has long been a fascination for both of them, and, appropriately enough, Ure spent several months a few years back, cooling his heels in the local County Jail writing lyrics for the project. This will be, for him, the first project for which he has actually written words that he intends to sing, whereas Mr. Hate has been a vocalist/lyricist in several groups before.

Both members are dedicated to depicting this stark new vision of America, simultaneously evoking a reminiscence with the days of the last american frontier as well as depicting this new sense of a past-due reckoning currently looming across the horizon of our land. The current ongoing atrophication of this newest incarnation of the american dream runs parallel to that tragic demise of a similar vision at the turn of the last century. This is surely testament to the sobering reality that there will be more than just one Death of the West. Ultimately, our newest land of milk and honey will be just as covered in blood as the original. Such is the case with every "Promised Land".
