URE THRALL :: BIOGRAPHY

origin: san francisco, ca
formation: 1985
modus: dark ambient
roster: ure thrall

Ure Thrall was "born" in 1985 , a progeny of warped societal alchemy conceived only after years of cleaning tampon-strewn women's bathrooms for a living while beating the hell out of my best friend's guitar with a butterknife (to dull my frustration with the world) in my spare time.

After realizing that I might be able to hock a few tapes of my half-assed butterknife experiments at the local record stores if I simply dressed them up with the in vogue classification of "Industrial Music" (remember this was 1985!): suddenly emerged this forlorn bastard borne of entrepreneurial desperation, Ure Thrall.

In the twenty-three odd years that have passed since the founding of my label Diskorporeality Recordings, I have released well over 50 of those "experiments", and thankfully the slowly burgeoning audience that has accidentally stumbled across my poorly distributed work, have continuously encouraged me to greater heights of sonic acheivement than I ever expected.

Thanks to my collaborative work in groups such as Voice of Eye, Asianova and Smooth Quality Excrement, my transition from improvisational experimental music dabbler to full-on electronic composer seems to have been a successful one. 2006 saw the 1st official worldwide Ure Thrall CD release, being my favorite work to date "Arabian Knightmares", on the legendary Tesco label. As testament to their great reputation as a label, I was invited to perform at the Tesco Festival in Antwerp Belgium September 29th 2007, thus making my long-held dream of doing a live performance "on the other side of the pond" finally come true.

This one-time only live set was taken from my more recent works from 1999 to the present including the "Bone Tree Soundtracks" series, Arabian Knightmares and it's upcoming sequel "Operation: IRAN" . Thanks to the support of the extremely talented members of my "Sonic Insurgency" (comprised of Jim Wilson and Bonnie McNairn from a little known band named "Voice of Eye") I can safely say that this was a live debut not to be missed.
