IAMINDUST is an annual international music festival focusing primarily on some of the best Dark ambient and Industrial acts from around the world. It also is meant to provoke the attending artists to go beyond their usual comfort zones in the realm of performance, by utilizing the octophonic sound system we are providing just for this occasion, and also by embarking upon unique live impromptu collaborations with some of the other attending artists in an effort to create wholly new and unpredictable results.
THE VENUE: ORBIS NEX
ORBIS NEX has long been a secret bastion of phenomenal counter-culture gatherings of most every
imaginable variety for quite a few years now. Featuring a luxuriously dark and enticing foyer and
an enchanting firelit outdoor area, the expansive main room houses a truly SUPERIOR house sound
system.
Patricia and the unique community of organizers and techs at ORBIS NEX have managed to create an oasis of intrigue in the midst of a sea of iniquity that is truly worthy and appropriate for hosting the amazing cornucopia of events they seem to constantly have going on there. Whether it's their bi-weekly KATANEXUS events or their burgeoning ongoing schedule of special live performances and events, a visit to Orbis Nex is always guaranteed to hold one's fascination. Located within easy walking distance of the Oakland Coliseum BART station, and always with plenty of parking available, there's simply NO EXCUSE not to join the magick happening comstantly at ORBIS NEX.
THE OCTOPHONIC SOUND SYSTEM
This will be the first festival ever held using an OCTOPHONIC SOUND SYSTEM we are creating
especially for this event with the kind help of local artist JAMES GOODE. All the attending
artists will be invited to create an octophonic landscape for this performance to be utilized in
tandem with the sets they will perform.
THE WEB SITE - IAMINDUST.COM
The web site IAMINDUST.COM serves as a respository of information and an archive of events
leading up to, during and after IAMINDUST. Besides housing bio information, discographies, photo galleries and sound samples for the artists performing at IAMINDUST 2008, the web site will also serve as a community space to discuss and interact before, during and after the event. You will also be able to purchase much sought after tickets, swag and recordings from the event. Our beloved press will be able to download digital press kits, thus saving many a tree.
IAMINDUST.COM is hosted by DREAMHOST which is a carbon neautral ISP. The site was lovingly designed, developed and donated by Alan Herrick of Nux Vomica and Auricular Media Design, also a carbon neutral business.
